Gentlemen of the graduating class of 1976 

Trust all of you are well in anticipation of the grand reunion organized with a lot of effort and attention to detail by our wonderful classmates of the core committee in Mangalore. Others in different parts of the world have also contributed by gently prodding reluctant observers to actively participate in the event. My sincere acknowledgement and appreciation to all the above for your hard work and enthusiasm 

As many of you know, I joined St. Aloysisus in the first standard with a bunch of you including Rudolph Rodrigues, Philip Colaco, Errol Pinto, Joy MJ, Vivian Peres, Harsha D’souza, Isaac Vas, et al. After 2nd year PUC, I moved to St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore with Joy MJ, James Fernandes, and Tony Britto. Upon graduation, I worked as a senior house officer at SJMC, Fr. Mullers, and KMC before being accepted into the MS (ENT) program at KMC Manipal in 1985. After completion of training in 1988, I returned to St. John’s on faculty and stayed until 1991 when my wife, daughter, and I left for the UK. We spent four years there, during which time I obtained certification from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 1995, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee in the US for a fellowship in pediatric ENT/Head & Neck surgery and then to Houston, Texas in 1997, I spent 10 years at the University of Texas Medical School. During my time there, I directed the residency training program and division of pediatric head and neck surgery at the Children’s hospital.  I left Texas in 2007 for the University of Maryland School of Medicine Baltimore to start a new program here and have been on faculty to date. My wife is in the finance sector and works for the Johns Hopkins Children’s hospital in Baltimore. We live in Maryland and are approximately a 40-minute drive north of Washington DC. I have two daughters who are physicians. One is an ENT surgical resident in New York and the other a pediatrician in Houston. We welcomed our first grandchild in January. I visit Mangalore usually once a year and other parts of India a couple of times each year. I try to meet up with old classmates and friends who have graciously hosted me several times both in Mangalore and Bangalore. I truly look forward to seeing all of you in September to celebrate our 50th anniversary and sing with gusto “ buvanava salahuva karunanidhi……………!!
