For some time, man used to look up at the phenomena around him passively. Now mankind has passed into an age of development progress. There was a time when men used to gaze at the moon and, other heavenly bodies and consider them to be Gods. Since he did not know what they were, they became his objects of worship. Now however, man has set foot on the moon and mankind is trying to get the universe under his control. The world is shrinking because of advanced techniques of speedy communication. Man could achieve all this because of his efforts and his quest for knowledge.
This is an age of competition. If we must come anywhere near the forefront of anything, we must be ready to forgo any dispassionate state of mind and put in a large amount of arduous work. Hard workers are the builders of a nation. Hard work can bring peace and prosperity and save a country from economic backwardness. It will help the progress of the country. America, Japan, Russia and China, have progressed steadily, for their citizens have spared no effort. During the second world war, Japan and Germany were almost totally destroyed. But now they have come up because of their strenuous labour.
Today we have all sorts of electronic gadgets, civil constructions, atomic energy and many other astounding developments in the field of science. Scientists have had to workday and night to make these things possible. Copernicus had to shut himself up in a tower for twelve long years to complete his discovery. Paul Ehrlich had to perform 665 unsuccessful experiments in order to discover Salvarsan, nothing therefore can be achieved without hard work.
In India unfortunately people are lazy. Many of them blame the climate for their laziness. In my opinion, people are lazy by force of habit. Since the declaration of emergency people have been forced to work hard. As a result, we see inflation under control, a fall in prices and a rise in production.
Let us hope that we become hardworking people.
